Cross-platform will be the future, and not only because of a specific language or stack. The use case and business models will drive that kind of technology forward, and the web will be the best platform for years to come.

A good note: See what's WebKit is doing this year. It will be game-changing, as far as I can see. For example, file System Access API is now available, and several features are in beta, like push notifications.
